I have created these Sfumato Embroidery designs from my own photographs. I test every design to be sure it stitches well and looks good when it is completed.
The larger designs typically take 3 hours (or more!) to stitch.
Because of the digitizing process it is impossible to eliminate the jump stitches. Set your machine to trim at each jump.
If your machine can't do this, trimming stitches between each color, if necessary, is recommended.
Many of these designs are digitized for large hoops because the details in the images show better at a larger scale. Be sure you have a hoop big enough for the designs you choose.

Remember that colors look different depending on what they are next to and on top of! I include a color chart with each design but I recommend you lay your threads on top of the fabric you plan to use to see if the transition from dark to light looks good to you. I like to pick thread colors that look good with the fabric I choose even if this means they are very different from the thread chart.	Designs with a large field of lighter colors look best on light colored fabric. Unless I mention that a design has been created for dark fabrics, the lightest two colors in Sfumato designs stitch last and are often not as dense as the darker colors. It is normal to see your fabric through the stitches. With a little pre-planning, you can use this to your advantage by adding a 6th color to you design by choosing a fabric that complements your thread choices.

PORTRAIT OF LIMON, COSTA RICA WOMAN 3.44x4.76 Actual Stitchout While on a Panama Canal cruise, our ship docked in Limon, Costa Rica. After returning from a day exploring the Tortuguero Canals, known as Costa Rica's Amazon due to the surrounding rainforest, I stopped at a shop and bought a souvenir from this beautiful woman. PIRATE SHIP FACE (With Frame) 5.93x4.45 Actual Stitchout I discovered this smiling fellow carved into one of the banisters near the helm on the Neptune, a Spanish Galleon ship built in 1985 for Roman Polanski's film Pirates. Dubbed the most expensive movie prop ever built, it is an accurate replica (above the waterline) including fully functional rigging. But it's equipted with a partly steel hull, planked in timber and has two main engines with Schottel drive below decks. The Neptune is currently a tourist attraction in the port of Genoa, Italy. I wanted to do an experiment with this design. I decided to change the order that the colors stitch out to see how it would change the look of the Cheetah. I really like the way it turned out. Although it isn't quite as dramatic as the other two cheetah designs, it seems more realistic to me. This is a HUGE design that that is sent to you in two files. It wasn't until my 5th or 6th trip to Florence, Italy that I managed to visit the Accademia Gallery to see the original David. There are a number of replicas all over the old city but they cannot compare to the original. In Art school at VCU, I took a semester on Michelangelo. All I can say is I started to cry when I walked into the room with David. It is an astounding work of art and engineering that needs to be seen to be truly appreciated. DANTE 6.00x7.98 Actual Stitchout Although exhiled from Florence, you will find a statue of Dante Alighieri in the Piazza Santa Croce, next to Basilica of Santa Croce, Florence, Italy, where I shot the photograph for this design. It was built in 1865 by Italian sculptor Enrico Pazzi. His death mask can be found in the Hall Of The 500. After Venice, Florence is next in line as my favorite city. I think it's a beautiful work of art. It's very calming. This photo shows how drastically your thread colors influence the final stitchout.
